Vista Environmental Consulting was involved in the observation of compliance abatement
monitoring by the hazardous materials remediation contractor. Vista’s activities on this project were to
review contractor pre-submittals including worker documentation and regulatory notifications, observe and record asbestos and lead in construction activities, conduct pre-abatement, daily and final abatement visual inspections, and conduct asbestos and lead sampling including bulk, air, and wipe. Building 29 at the School for the Deaf was undergoing a full renovation and the School for the Blind was an electrical upgrade project for multiple buildings. Vista worked as a team with the State of California Inspector, General Contractor, and Remediation Contractor to help the remediation portion of the project run smoothly and safely.

“Selecting this hazardous materials team from a field
of 18 highly qualified teams, proved to be very
beneficial for this project. The team’s knowledge of
buildings and building systems provided a
comprehensive hazardous materials inventory and a
complete set of construction documents. The
information provided by the team allowed for a smooth
bid process and prevented change orders during the
construction phase. The team’s unique approach in
inviting the regulatory agencies to review the reports
and construction documents prior to bid, allowed for a
comfort not experienced by CSUMB in previous
projects. This open cooperative relationship between
the client, consultant, contractor and the regulatory
agency allowed the project to be completed on time
and within the budget.” Ron Deller “Selecting this hazardous materials team from a field
