Environmental Consulting has performed pre-demolition asbestos and
lead assessments of over a million square feet of buildings at GAF ELK facilities
in Hollister, Stockton, and Fontana, California. This project had an accelerated schedule,
so Vista mobilized a multi-man team to complete it on-time.
There were buildings on two different parcels in Hollister. Parcel 1 had one
large sprawling building that
included office build outs and industrial areas that were used to saturate paper
roofing products with asphalt. The building interior, exterior, roof and machinery
were inspected for asbestos containing materials. Parcel 2 had thirteen buildings,
including a main office/warehouse building, two large production buildings,
and a tank farm. This site was used to produce paper roofing products from pulp
made from recycled cardboard. The Stockton site included two buildings, an asphalt
saturator building and an office building. The Fontana site was an active plant which produced rolled and shingle
roofing products. All buildings and industrial machinery were inspected for asbestos-containing materials.

“Selecting this hazardous materials team from a field
of 18 highly qualified teams, proved to be very
beneficial for this project. The team’s knowledge of
buildings and building systems provided a
comprehensive hazardous materials inventory and a
complete set of construction documents. The
information provided by the team allowed for a smooth
bid process and prevented change orders during the
construction phase. The team’s unique approach in
inviting the regulatory agencies to review the reports
and construction documents prior to bid, allowed for a
comfort not experienced by CSUMB in previous
projects. This open cooperative relationship between
the client, consultant, contractor and the regulatory
agency allowed the project to be completed on time
and within the budget.” Ron Deller “Selecting this hazardous materials
