Vista’s
key personnel oversaw and performed hazardous materials assessments of 160 buildings
located
on the campus. These former Fort Ord Military buildings were in disrepair and
needed to be demolished for safety reasons and so that new campus buildings
and facilities could be built. The contract consisted of a hazardous materials
surveys and cost estimates, a preliminary demolition waste evaluation, and preparation
of contract documents for pre-demolition abatement and abatement monitoring
services associated with the demolition of the buildings. The 1st phase of the
remediation project was to perform
contract requirements for 75 buildings within an accelerated schedule of two
months. This was successfully completed March 2006. In 2007, Vista oversaw the
hazardous materials remediation and
demolition of 13 additional buildings adjacent to the campus student and staff
population. Vista conducted an assessment of Building 1032 and will be assessing
21 multi-story military classroom buildings in 2008.

“Selecting this hazardous materials team from a field
of 18 highly qualified teams, proved to be very
beneficial for this project. The team’s knowledge of
buildings and building systems provided a
comprehensive hazardous materials inventory and a
complete set of construction documents. The
information provided by the team allowed for a smooth
bid process and prevented change orders during the
construction phase. The team’s unique approach in
inviting the regulatory agencies to review the reports
and construction documents prior to bid, allowed for a
comfort not experienced by CSUMB in previous
projects. This open cooperative relationship between
the client, consultant, contractor and the regulatory
agency allowed the project to be completed on time
and within the budget.” Ron Deller “Selecting this hazardous materials
